Before purchasing a GPS device and/or a locator beacon, consider the new inReach Explorer from Delorme. New in 2015 the inReach Explorer builds upon the original inReach SE device with improved functionality and features. The good news about this device is tech lovers out there can geek out on all the bells and whistles, but it will still be of use to those of us that are technologically challenged. Map Share is my favorite feature enabling our family and friends to virtually follow along on our adventures, but all of the features have proven helpful in the field. Except SOS... luckily we have had no reason to "test" this feature.
